THE 29ER BRINGS THE FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING, SUN AND SAILING FUN

The 29er is adding a splash of colour to the spring season with two new faces in mint and apricot. With these fresh shades, the watch is celebrating both the upcoming spring and the start of the sailing season. After the large impact made by the colourful models of the 29er Big, this new 29er is taking a more subtle approach with its 36.6-millimetre diameter, perfect for more delicate wrists.

The 29er family of wristwatches was first launched by Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte back in 2006. Its name was inspired by a small regatta skiff used by young sailing talents in their competitions in the Junior Championship Class run by the German Sailing Association. The 29er sailing skiff is a so-called one-design boat, which means that all models are virtually identical – from the sail to the hull. The same applies to the 29er as a watch: although they have different case diameters, the 29er and 29er Big are like identical twins.

It therefore comes as no surprise that the smaller 29er is now following in the footsteps of its big brothers measuring 42.4 millimetres in diameter, namely by making waves with two new, colourful models to honour the start of the spring and therefore the beginning of the new sailing season. When launching the new 29er Big in 2023, Mühle-Glashütte opted for faces in summery shades of sand and pacific blue. With the new 29er, on the other hand, it is the colours of spring that take centre stage.

The first blossoming model features an apricot-coloured face, which harmonises perfectly with Mühle’s new straps. Wearers can choose between a sand-coloured canvas strap and a brown vintage leather version, which stylishly complements the brushed surfaces of the 29er case with its fine buffed-leather look.

The same harmony can be found in the mint-coloured model, where a fascinating contrast between the face and strap adds an extra-special design touch. Anyone struggling to choose between the sportier canvas strap and its elegant leather equivalent or wanting to adapt their watch to suit their outfit can rest assured – thanks to Mühle-Glashütte’s practical quick-release spring bars, the straps can be changed in just a few simple steps.

The 29er has always represented quality at its best, and the case of the new models continues this tradition. It is fitted with the range’s characteristic side protection, which reliably keeps the screw-in crown safe in the event of any knocks to the side of the watch. To give wearers a clear view of the new dials in spring colours at all times, the case of the new models, which is water-resistant up to 10 bars, features a scratch-resistant and anti-glare sapphire crystal.

As a result, the precise time and the dials’ impressive aesthetics are clear for all to see, for example, the hint of luxury provided by the applied indices with their subtle shine and the sporty touch added by the red second hand. What’s more, the dials themselves are as clear as can be, mainly because the fine minute graduation and minute numerals are all located on the flange, meaning that the dial itself only displays the indices and the luminescent hour markers.

When it comes to the inner workings of the 29er, the precise SW 200-1 Mühle version movement enables wearers to always read the exact time at a glance. The automatic movement comes equipped with the efficient Mühle rotor and its shockproof woodpecker neck regulation. This special component facilitates the sensitive regulation in six different positions and ensures accuracy values of between 0 and a maximum of +8 seconds per day. This precision target forms the heart of Mühle’s own regulation standards, which comply with the German chronometer standard and helps to ensure that the watch never runs slow. After all, no wearer of a 29er watch should ever be too late for a spring regatta because of their time-measuring instrument.
