DISCOVER THE SPECIAL EDITION ASTROSCOPE

It’s the sun and the moon that divide our time into day and night and the twelve months of the year for everyone to perceive and observe. However, the division into seven-day weeks does not follow any particular astronomical rhythm but has more of a mythological background. The method most likely dates back to the Babylonians, who, like many other peoples, considered the number seven to be especially holy and connected with seven celestial bodies: The Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn. The Astroscope displays the weekdays with these seven heavenly bodies.

The current day of the week is indicated by a yellow dot; wandering back and forth above the intimated horizon, which gives the impression of a night sky.With the unique way of displaying the days of the week, the Astroscope drew a great deal of attention. The model has won the German Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award, and the iF Design Award for its overall design concept.

This year, MeisterSinger is launching a special series limited to 200 pieces with a black sunburst finish and sunny yellow. Thanks to a Super-LumiNova coating, the hands, hour indices and weekday display glow in the dark. The new model comes with a super-soft calfskin watch strap in yellow that beautifully matches the graphic depictions on the dial. The imprint “One of 200” on the glass exhibition back emphasises the fact that this watch is one of only 200 pieces manufactured.

The Swiss Sellita SW220 automatic movement, which is specially modified for MeisterSinger’s single-hand watches, quietly ticks inside the Astroscope. Concealed by the dial, a large weekday ring with several white dots advances one step day by day. A clearly visible white dot tells the wearer the current day of the week. The date display can be conveniently set via its quick-switch function. The rotor provides the watch with a power reserve of 38 hours.
