20 YEARS OF S.A.R RESCUE TIMER
In 2022 the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer celebrates his 20th anniversary with the sea rescuers. The Mühle-Glashütte family business is starting an extraordinary anniversary year with a moderate facelift of what is probably its best-known wristwatch.
In February 2002 the first S.A.R. Rescue-Timer handed over to the foremen of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). The rescue watch was developed together with them and has now had to prove itself in the tough everyday life of sea rescuers for 20 years. The S.A.R. Rescue-Timer is used, among other things, as a timer for night operations. Thanks to its hands, which are generously equipped with Super-LumiNova, and the characteristically shaped indices, a time orientation is possible at any time.
The anniversary will be appropriately celebrated at Mühle-Glashütte. Because the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer has become the ultimate Mühle watch since its presentation. Responsible for this is not only the functional and unmistakable dial design, due to which the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer is recognized from a distance of several meters – but also the suitability for everyday use of a practice-oriented watch.
After the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer was manufactured unchanged for 20 years, Mühle-Glashütte is carrying out a moderate facelift on the tried-and-tested rescue watch in the anniversary year. The modification includes a black date disc that now shows the date in white numerals. In addition, there is a crown in bead-blasted stainless steel, which now perfectly matches with the matte case of the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer.
In addition, the wearer of a new S.A.R. Rescue-Timer can continue to enjoy the well-known advantages of the timepiece: A 4 mm thick, scratch-resistant sapphire glass ensures an unclouded view of the extremely legible dial at all times. The 42 mm stainless steel case withstands an enormous water pressure of up to 100 bar. And a reliable SW 200-1, Mühle version including an in-house rotor and a particularly shock-resistant woodpecker neck fine adjustment ensures precise timekeeping.
Since the rescue watch is still in service with the sea rescuers and has to satisfy a precisely defined purpose, the facelift of the proven watch was very moderate. All the more we can look forward to a possible anniversary model of the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer. Because the facelift is the prelude to some sensational innovations with which Mühle-Glashütte is celebrating the anniversary year of the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer appropriately.
