THREE NEW, LIMITED-EDITION SPORTS WATCHES BY JUNGHANS:1972 CHRONOSCOPE SPORTS EDITION 2025

Ready, set, go! Junghans begins the new year in a sporty manner: the striking models of the 1972 Chronoscope Sports Edition 2025 are cool watches for both young people and the young at heart, and the strictly limited chronographs are perfect as the starting signal for (or to complement) one’s own little collection. After its introduction in 2024, this limited series now embraces three new variations, each limited to 200 pieces. The 2025 edition offers a choice of watches with dials in blue, white, and dark grey with matte finish and dynamic double stripes as design elements. The blue-dial variation has light grey stripes in the centre while the white version has vertically running double stripes in luminous orange; the watch model with dark grey dial and gold stripes is upscale in feel. All of the dials feature an eye-catching extra-large numeral 6 that looks like a racing number and the historical logo references Junghans’ proven connectedness to motorsports. This is also visible in the design of the colour-corresponding leather straps with holes in the style of traditional driver’s gloves and contrasting colour seams.

Powering the watches, Quartz Caliber J645.83 offers a chronograph function with stop times shown to a precision of one-fifth of a second in addition to the date and a 24-hour indication. All of the hands and hour markers on the watches are painted with an eco-friendly white luminous substance that contrasts beautifully with the dark-coloured dials. Thus, great legibility is guaranteed both day and night.

Junghans shows its sporting spirit not only in the design of its products. This watch company from Schramberg also sponsors successful elite athletes like ski jumper Karl Geiger and one of Germany’s top handball teams, Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Furthermore, Junghans is the longtime timing partner of the Oldtimer Grand Prix. A love of sports in general and sports timing in particular have a long tradition at Junghans. This began in the 1920s with the first hand-operated stopwatches and continued with large sporting events throughout the twentieth century. It was then that Junghans founded a department for developing technology for sports timing used at big competitions. Junghans was the official timer for car races, skiing world championships, rowing meets, and track and field competitions. The high point of Junghans’ sports timing activity was 1972, not coincidentally the year that gave its name to this sporty family of watches
